Last week my mom and I spent the afternoon doing one of our favorite things together—treasure hunting. See her latest Tuesdays With Tracy Blog Post here!
Also, make sure you read until the end because I’m sharing a small secret only here on the blog today!

Flea Markets and Basket Hunting With Mom
After Bible Study, we headed straight to one of our favorite local flea markets, A & J Antiques. If you’ve never been, it’s full of unique booths, each run by a different vendor, and absolutely packed with inspiration. We went with no real plan. Nothing specific we needed. Just browsing. Dreaming. Gathering ideas and enjoying being together.

I was loosely looking for inspiration for my outdoor potting table, and decided to leave my wallet in the car. My rule was: if it’s good enough to walk back to the car for… it’s meant to be.
Well.
The very first booth. Of course.
I spotted the cutest little vase that looked like a tiny watering can. Darling. Whimsical. $20. I wasn’t sure. My mom immediately said, “Just hold onto it.” So I did. Even though I wasn’t convinced yet.

We wandered through a few of my favorite booths when she spotted it—a heavy, gorgeous cement finial. Marked down from $65 to $20. Stunning. No hesitation. She was absolutely worth the wallet walk. I put her up front to hold because there was no way I was carrying that thing around.

Then the baskets started happening.
And when I say happening, I mean $6 pretty baskets happening. The kind that make your heart beat a little faster. I’ve always had a thing for baskets and love decorating with baskets so this was nothing new. After grabbing two… then three… I had my moment.

I suddenly knew exactly what I wanted to do.
I want to hang a whole bunch of pretty baskets over my potting table.
My Basket Hanging Inspiration
I recently saw an Instagram reel from Greer (@homeonbroad) where she used a curtain rod hung from the ceiling to display baskets, and it was so good. Instantly saved. Instantly imagined it over my potting table—and someday, maybe in that future greenhouse.

I’m thinking a table rod like one from Terrain… or maybe something similar from Amazon… or possibly attaching a rod under the overhang of our house above the potting table. The baskets would hang on S-hooks, so they’d be easy to add and remove—and I could actually use them for collecting cut flowers.
My only hesitation? Colorado weather.
Do I seal the baskets?
Only hang them in spring and summer?
Or just let them live their best lives and see what happens?
Would love your thoughts.
Fully Committed to Basket Hunting
At that point, we fully committed to basket hunting. Pretty ones. Unique ones. Affordable ones. And before I knew it, I had found seven baskets.
My arms were full. My heart was happy.

In one of the last booths, I found the basket. The perfect one. So perfect that I did a full-on happy dance right there in the aisle. I do that when I find a treasure. My mom was filming me, people were absolutely watching, and I did not care one bit. You can watch my happy dance here!

We laughed our way through the rest of the market. She did try to convince me to buy a massive old white fan trellis with a green star to go behind my potting table.

It was… unique and I honestly didn’t see her vision at first. I considered it for a second (because her vision is usually spot on), but I passed. Mostly because my arms were already full and partly because my husband might’ve thought I’d officially lost it.

All in all, it was just one of those fun days.
Nothing earth-shattering. No big plans. Just inspiration, laughter, and time together. And moments like that, wandering flea markets, dreaming up ideas, and laughing until your cheeks hurt are the ones I treasure most. Especially with my mom. I am so glad she lives so close by.
Can you keep a secret?
Today I’m meeting with a local builder (I’m friends with his wife we were both elementary school teachers) to talk about a possible greenhouse for our yard. He built her the most beautiful one, and let’s just say… the wheels are officially turning. It’s all very preliminary so I can get an estimate of how much I need to save, but still so exciting . I’ll keep you posted!
One Last Thing
Treasure hunting, indeed. Oh, one last thing…

Would you hang baskets outside over a potting table… or keep them as an indoor-only treasure? I’d love your thoughts. Let me know in the comments below!
