Roots and Reflections: Hello November

|

Hey there, sweet friend! This is Roots & Reflections, my weekly catch-up series where I invite you into my garden, my home, and a few of the messy, beautiful moments in between. Each week I share what’s growing, what’s inspiring me, and what I’m learning — both in the garden and in life. I’m so glad you are here!

Hello November

Hello November! Can you believe October has already come and gone? Yesterday we were handing out candy and celebrating Halloween, and today… it’s all about Christmas! You know by now that Christmas is my favorite season, and decorating for it brings me so much joy. Honestly, two months never feels long enough—I love celebrating Thanksgiving with the glow of a Christmas tree twinkling in the background.
Tell me, do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving?

This past week has been full (in the very best way): sweet baby snuggles with our precious grandson (pic above), breakfast with my dad and sister, a Halloween sleepover with seven of our 13-year-old daughter’s friends, morning book club walks and surprise baby showers for two ladies in our group, two soccer games for our 16-year-old, the arrival of my long-awaited bulb order (time to get planting!), and even a little date night with my husband. I’m sure I’m forgetting something—because, let’s be honest, our lives never seem to slow down!

This Week On the Blog

On Tuesday I shared a blog on where i shop for my bulbs that I plant in the fall and come up in the spring. You can read that post here.

Where to Find Flower Bulbs

Then on Thursday I shared a new blog post all about Terrain’s Garden Themed Christmas Ornaments and what I am doing with one special one. Read that post here!

5 Little Luxuries I’m Loving Right Now

Before we dive into this week’s 5 Little Luxuries I’m Loving Lately, a quick thank-you! When you shop through my links (even if you end up snagging something totally different), I earn a small commission — and it helps keep this lazy girl’s garden growing. I’m so thankful for your support!

Lately I have been all about Terrain and their garden and holiday decor. This collage showcases a few of my favorites. They are currently having a 30% sale on select items! I snagged the strand of Monrovian stars lights!

Also, currently trending in the decor world is Ralph Lauren inspired Christmas decor, a bit mor eon the traditional side!

Friends I Want You to Know

Do you know Emilie from Flower People ? She is one of my favorite Instagram friends and my go to when it comes to purchasing seeds. She is a wealth of knowledge she has a small shop that is amazing and sells seeds, bulbs and more! I grew her zinnias, sweet peas, dahlia tubers and several others this year along with daffodils. She just sent me more bulbs too!

And you are in luck because today her sweet pea seeds go live! They sell out so hustle over and take a peek at her shop. If you are lucky she might have a few bulbs left as well. Then make sure to look around her site and jump on her email list so you will know when her seed sales go live!

Coming Up On the Blog

Next week will be a mix of Thanksgiving decor and Christmas so get ready. Oh and I’m sure some bulb talk as well.

  1. In November, my dining room will be all about Thanksgiving. But, my tree will be up and decorated. That way I can relax and enjoy Christmas all through December.

  2. Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day, is an annual Canadian holiday held on the second Monday in October. I am so happy that we have it early, so Remembrance Day, Nov 11 can be focused on and then all out for Christmas.

  3. Thanksgiving traditions that go deeper than food and football aren’t what I grew up with, but it’s been so fun and special seeking out and cultivating them in our family. I like to try and give it its due, so after Thanksgiving for us.
