Holiday Greetings!
Welcome to my home. I’m Kelly’s mom, Tracy, and I am so happy to be joining you for a December visit.
It snowed this past week here in Colorado and it was beautiful.

OUR DECEMBER HOME
We put up the Christmas tree just before Thanksgiving. It was a new tree and I wanted to make sure I liked it. We have always had green trees but I was loving Kelly’s flocked tree so here she is, all flocked and fancy.

We have a variety of ornaments, angels, bells, plates, and an assortment of red, pink, and white balls.

Yup, that’s right, even some plates. I happened to be cruising through a vintage flea market and saw these pretty little plates and thought they would be sweet on the tree. I put them on a plate hanger and attached them to the tree with a ribbon.

I had an abundance of white ornaments and they were a little lost on the flocked tree so I decided to paint some of them. I searched Pinterest and got an idea that was relatively simple. Similar ornaments were selling for $45 but I thought I could easily paint my own. Check out the white painted ball below.

DIY Painted Ornaments
I put a paper towel on the table, gathered my supplies and had some fun.

Supply List:
White ornaments
Flat Paint Brush
Folk Art Craft Paint
Gold Paint Pen
Dixie Cups
Directions: paint three different colored overlapping stripes in various places on the ornament. Place them on Dixie cups to dry. Then fill in the other areas with polka dots with the paint pen. How easy is that!?

Christmas Traditions
On the kitchen island I have an olive wood nativity that was a gift a few years ago.

If you look closely you will see that baby Jesus has not arrived yet. When the girls were little we always placed him in the manger on Christmas morning. And he was always in the kitchen drawer until then, ha! So the tradition continues, he is currently in a drawer in the kitchen.

Do you have a “junk drawer” in your kitchen? I do and sometimes it gets pretty messy. Isn’t that just like Jesus to be in the junk drawer? He comes right into our messiness and loves us. That is great joy!
We have another nativity in the hutch in the dining room.

This is a Fontanini nativity that the girls played with as young children. It was made in 1983. I put this one on a plate on the hutch.

And again, baby Jesus is in the kitchen drawer.

Did you notice that gnarly clump in front of the lamb. That was originally a lamb but one year one of our dogs used it as a chew toy. We have lovingly named it the sacrificial lamb!
Christmas Tea
I have the dining room table set for tea. My sister is here visiting and I’m hoping to get a chance to have the girls join us for afternoon tea.

Do you set your table with paper napkins or cloth napkins! I absolutely love table linens. Kelly gifted me these napkins and I love them. We use both cloth and paper but I’m partial to cloth. Oh, I just noticed there are no spoons. Note to self: add some spoons!

The kitchen table has a makeshift advent wreath in the form of four votive candles. Advent marks the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. The four candles represent hope, peace, joy, and love. The first and second ones are lit this week.

Just off the kitchen is an open hallway with our church pew. I found some tiny sheep at a local vintage store and knew I had just the right spot for them. Right under the big lamb print!

One of them is missing an ear… I wonder if it was chewed off by a dog, ha!

Wishing you and yours hope, peace, joy, and love this holiday season.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

And, may you enjoy your cloth or paper napkins!
Love,
