Tuesdays With Tracy: Tablecloths and February Flair

Hello Friends!
I don’t know about you, but I thought I would enjoy winter for a bit longer. But our weather here in Colorado has been unusually warm, I mean like 60 degrees warm. I’m getting the itch for spring but I’m sure we might get slammed with winter in March and April! Are you having lots of rain or snow?
The morning sunrises have been beautiful.

Tablecloths and February Flair
Did I ever mention that I have a group of friends that get together for Art, mostly watercolor. We have dubbed ourselves the “Artlings”. The author C.S. Lewis and his writing group called themselves the Inklings so we took a page out of their book, (did you get that pun?) and named our group like they did. Our friend Barb, who is a fabulous artist, is our instructor.
Barb is traveling the world right now on a semester at sea so we are occasionally meeting so when she asks what we did while she was gone, we can at least produce a couple of pieces. Ha! Several of us have watercolor workbooks by Emily Lex. This was the one I was working on today.

UNUSUAL TOUCHES OF SPRING IN MY HOME
So I decided to change what’s on my coffee table. This has been on it since the first of January.

The black floral cloth is a 36” cafe tablecloth from April Cornell. I simply folded it down to fit on the coffee table. I decided I needed to start putting touches of Spring out so I started here.
My daughter, Lindsey, gave me a pretty green ginger jar for Christmas so I removed the tree candles and added the ginger jar and filled it with tulips.

So then I decided to change to a white tray to lighten it up a bit. And, I added peonies in with the tulips.

Then I decided to change the cafe cloth to another one in green and yellow. I also changed the book to a green one that once belonged to my mother.

Then I got to thinking about how I have a slight obsession with linens. I always look for them when I’m out and about and have even found some beautiful ones at antique and flea markets. This is how I hang them in our guest room closet. I label the sizes because they are all different.

This is a cabinet in that same room with napkins, runners, and some placemats.

THE HUMBLE ART OF USING TABLECLOTHS
I realized that I actually use tablecloths four unusual ways – on a table, a coffee table, on the back of a sofa, and on the end of a bed.
On a table is the obvious way but I say, let’s step out of our comfort zones! Ha! I’m not even going to show you one on a table. Below I have one on the coffee table and on the back of the sofa.

When I removed the black floral one from the coffee table I thought I would add some color to the back of a chair.

This is our guest room and I frequently throw them on the end of the bed as an extra layer.

You know what I noticed, I apparently like scallops!
The red matelaisse comforter is scalloped.

A yellow quilt in that same room is scalloped.

And the white tray on the coffee table is scalloped!

Am I eclectic in decorating? Yup! Let me know in the comments if you use linens and tablecloths in UNUSUAL ways?
