Tuesdays With Tracy : Spring Plans and Fun Projects

Hi Friends!

It’s March and isn’t it typically supposed to be, in like a lion and out like a lamb?  Well in our part of Colorado it has been spring-like, except for literally one day of snow… I guess the lion part could be the high winds because boy have they been strong.

We spent a wonderful long weekend visiting Larry’s sister and her husband.  They live outside of Houston on Lake Livingston. Instead of showing you the view of our pond, this is the morning sunrise view from their living room.

Everyone rides around on golf carts and it’s a very friendly community.  This is the view back toward their house.

SPRING PLANS & PROJECTS

Spring is the time of plans and projects.”

 – Leo Tolstoy

This week Kelly and I are planning to do some more winter sowing of seeds in jugs. It is Spring break here and the weather is supposed to be in the 70’s & 80’s – woo hoo! Our winter has been so warm that I have had to water my previously planted jugs and I’m concerned that they may have dried out too much for the seeds to sprout. Oh well.

Lighting Fun Project

One project we recently did was to install new pendants over our kitchen island, and a new chandelier over the kitchen table. We’ve been in our home for eighteen years so it’s time to do a few updates. (Ignore the winter tree that needs to go to the basement, ha!)

The pendants are dupes for some I have seen on Serena and Lily.  Nearly identical but not nearly as expensive.

I went with a plain gold chandelier with rattan shades. Notice the scallops on the shades? Last month (in this post here) I mentioned I liked scallops, and then a friend of mine came over and pointed out some scallops I hadn’t even mentioned that were also around my house.

Kelly helped me with the lighting installation. Most of the time changing lighting out is pretty simple and straightforward. There are lots of Youtube sites that help and this blog Kelly wrote when she lived in her former home. Is this something you have done or would try?

I also have plans on changing our shower head. I’m hopeful that this one I have chosen will be more powerful. I will let you know next month!

Easter Tea Party Fun Project

Let’s put a hold on another household project and set the table for an Easter tea party.  That’s a fun project!  My sister is coming soon so I usually try to have a tea party when she is here.

A quilt for a tablecloth.  This might be an adult tea party so it’s pretty safe, and the quilt is washable. When I find a vintage quilt that I like at a flea market or antique shop for less than $125, I will buy it.  I love two color quilts for a clean look but I have a couple of multi color vintage quilts too. Would you use a quilt for a tablecloth?

I purchased the yellow Bordahlo plates on eBay. Currently,  their Spring section Hobby Lobby has green and pink cabbage plates that are so cute.

I brought the teapot home from England wrapped in bubble wrap and clothing in a suitcase that we purchased there.  The teacups were purchased at a thrift shop. Some of them have tiny chips but I use them anyway – it just means they’ve been loved and used!

The sand timer from Fortnum & Mason was a sweet gift from a friend. The tea spoons were gifted from my daughter.  I treasure all these items that bring such sweet memories.

Sugar, sugar…🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵oh honey honey 🎵🎵.  If you’re mature in years, you might remember that song. Ha!  Now I will have that in my head all day!

Did you notice that the little sugars were in the shape of a teapot?  They had these at one of the places that we had tea on our family trip.

Hallway Fun Project

A typical fun project for me is to change the hallway pew space.  I have had sheep on the shelf since Christmas and I will leave them there through Spring.

I saw this fun page in Country Living magazine and it stopped me in my tracks.  I realized I have a small collection of sheep!

I changed the throw and pillows, and also replaced some little pinecone wreaths with some green ones.

Do you have any projects going? What about plans you’d like to do?

I would love to hear about them.

Would you use a quilt as a tablecloth?

Wishing you a happy Easter and a lovely Spring!

Love,

Tracy
