Back to School, Garden Blooms & a Dining Room Idea

|

Happy Sunday, friends!

I’m a little late getting this weekend update up, so we’re keeping things short and sweet today. It was one of those weekends that seemed to fly by, but I still wanted to pop in and share a few things happening around here!

Family

The girls had a great first week back at school, and we are officially back in the swing of busy schedules!

Crosby actually ended up having two half days because of the heat, her school doesn’t have air conditioning, and it has been so hot here in Colorado lately.

This weekend was full too! We spent lots of time watching Grace play soccer, and Crosby and her dance team were in a parade. Basically, we’ve been doing a lot of driving, cheering and trying to stay cool.

In the Garden

Somehow, despite this crazy heat, the garden is still hanging in there!

And exciting news…my Limelight hydrangeas are finally blooming! I’ve been patiently waiting for them, and they were worth the wait.

I also just finished week three of Free Flower Friday Club, and this was my second week using the darling striped backyard-compostable cups from We Are Sproutable for my bouquets. They make giving flowers away even more fun.

And you are the first to hear this…they are offering my friends 15% off! 🎉 SHOP them HERE!

Another garden thought currently floating around in my head: Japanese anemones. I really want to find a spot somewhere in our yard for them. Do you grow them? Tell me everything!

And my current flower crush has to be the Ballerina zinnia from Johnny’s Seeds. Big, fluffy blooms and so pretty, I’m obsessed.

I’m also already starting to think ahead to next year and which zinnias I want to save seeds from. If you’re wondering how to know when your zinnia seeds are ready and how to save them, [you can see how I do it here].

In Our Home

Okay, I need your help with a little dining room debate!

My mom and I have been talking about painting our dining room table white. The top has quite a few heat stains, so rather than trying to bring it back to its original finish, I’m tempted to completely switch things up.

Right now we have a wood table with white chairs, so I’m thinking…what if we went the opposite direction?

A white table with wood chairs!

I already own one chair like [THIS], and it is so pretty. But I also really love the look of [THESE].

And can’t you picture either option with cute colorful or patterned cushions?! I sure can.

So take a look at our dining room as it is now and help me vote:

Would you choose Chair #1 or Chair #2?

I have a feeling this might be one of those projects that starts with “maybe we should paint the table…” and ends with an entirely new dining room look. Don’t tell Mike. Ha!

Thanks for catching up with me, friends. I hope you’re staying cool, enjoying these last weeks of summer and finding a little beauty wherever you can.
