October Weather and Creating
Hello Friends! Kelly’s mom Tracy here.
Has it started cooling down where you are? These first couple of weeks have been absolutely beautiful here in Colorado.

Last week I was talking to a friend on the phone and happened to look out the window and saw a hot air balloon floating over our neighborhood. I said, “Hold on, there’s a balloon flying over!” So I put her on speaker and we continued chatting while I snapped a couple of photos. She knows me well and thought nothing of it!
The trees are beginning to drop their flame colored leaves. A couple of mornings ago it began changing and this was my morning view.

Football & Cold Weather
My husband, Larry, was a football coach for over forty years. Kelly, her sister Lindsey, and I have sat in football stadiums in many states and in all kinds of weather. From scorching heat to sub zero temps with snow coming down.
This fall we have been to several Colorado State games (Larry coached there in the past), as well as some high school games. Kelly’s daughter, Grace, is dating the quarterback at their high school. It has been fun but, I’m here to tell you, I’m officially retired from cold weather games! Yup, not going to freeze my tail off out there!
Autumn Decor With Harvest Wheat Bundles
I will quickly share how I made my Harvest Wheat Bundles with the following craft supplies:
Scissors
1.First, separate the wheat into four bundles. Then lay each bundle on a flat surface and layer into a fan shape.
2. Second, slide a piece of raffia or twine underneath the bunch and tie it tightly. Adjust the wheat puff ends to your desired shape.
3. Third, decide how tall you want your wheat bundle and cut the bottoms off to that height. Don’t these look like ladies dancing on the table top!?
4. Fourth, tie your desired ribbon around each bundle. I tightened them up with the ribbon so they weren’t as fanned out.
Decorating With Wheat Bundles
Below are some of the wheat bundles in the entryway on the sideboard. I mixed them with two I had previously purchased.
If you look closely at the framed photo above you can see Kelly and Lindsey acting as football goal posts while we were on a medical mission trip in Nicaragua. Larry was teaching children how to kick an American football. They were pretty brave as the football was flying all over the place!
And here I placed a wheat bundle on each of the two vintage windows.
In the niche between the windows is my mom’s black bowl full of mini gourds and a copper votive.
I untied one of the wheat bundles and placed it in a vintage metal urn on the kitchen island.
And not to leave the dining room untouched… more wheat on the dining table.
The little framed watercolor was actually painted by a friend on a birthday card she gave me. This friend is a brave soul that tries to teach myself and three other friends in learning watercolor painting and various other forms of art. There is a lot of laughter and rolling of eyes at our crazy attempts at creativity.
