How Is It Already August? A Little Life Lately

|

How is it already August?! I feel like summer always starts slowly, and then suddenly we’re racing toward school starting, fall schedules and all the things. We’re soaking up every last bit over here while also juggling birthdays, appointments, flowers and a few home projects.

Family

This week started with Crosby heading back to The Studio for dance intensive week! She was so excited to dive back in and spend time doing what she loves.

She is also celebrating her 14th birthday today, August 2nd! I truly cannot believe my baby is 14. If you remember, we had her party with her friends last week, and the bedazzle kits were such a hit. For her actual birthday, our plans are to head to Denver for some shopping and then have sushi for lunch, two of her favorite things!

Grace also had a physical therapy appointment this week for some hip pain she has been dealing with related to soccer. Unfortunately, we left with news we weren’t expecting. Her physical therapist believes the real issue may be coming from her spine and back rather than her hip.

We took her in for X-rays on Thursday, and an MRI will be the next step. She is understandably sad and discouraged, but she is also tired of being in pain and ready to have some answers. We aren’t sure yet what this will mean for club soccer, so we would truly appreciate your prayers for her.

In the Garden

The zinnias and cosmos are officially blooming, and my dahlias are beginning to open too! I was even able to cut my first bouquet of the season, which made me so happy. Oh and I saw our first butterfly of the season too! Here in Colorado we have to be patient waiting for flowers but it is always worth it!

I can hardly wait to start the #FreeFlowerFridayClub again and begin sharing flowers with friends, neighbors and anyone who might need a little joy. My plan is this coming Friday!

It has been very hot here lately, so I have been using THESE to help me set my watering schedule and then forget about it. You know I love anything that lets me be smart with the setup and lazy with the follow-through!

The Japanese beetles are still hanging around, but thankfully, I am beginning to see fewer of them. I am completely over those little garden destroyers.

Everything else is doing really well. My iceberg roses have put on another beautiful flush of blooms, and the hydrangeas are beginning to turn from white to green. That color change is always my sign that they’re almost ready to be cut and dried!

In Our Home

Inside our home, I have been looking at some new sheets, and THESE have incredible reviews. They look so soft and comfortable, and now I’m very tempted to try them. Do you have any recommendations for me on sheets?

I have also been having fun bringing out more vases for all the flowers I’m finally able to cut from the garden. After months of waiting, I love getting to fill our home with blooms again. Curious do you like THIS vase better or THIS one? I need some new vases!

Next up is a makeover for Crosby’s room! I’m starting to gather ideas and think through what we can change to make it feel fresh and special for her. She is wanting a beachy vibe and I actually found her a real surfboard on Facebook Marketplace recently to put in her room. I was shocked to find it here in Colorado! Stay tuned!

This Week’s 5 Lazy Girl Favorites

Here are the five things I’m loving, eyeing or finally trying this week:

  1. The ratings on THESE are so high, and they look amazing for sleep!
  2. THIS has completely changed my makeup routine!
  3. I finally found THIS in bulk!
  4. My favorite flower earrings are currently 50% off and under $7!
  5. THIS is the top seller week after week—and I finally got one!

Thank you for catching up with me this week. I hope you’re finding ways to soak up these final weeks of summer too, whether that looks like picking flowers, taking an evening walk, celebrating someone you love or simply slowing down for a few minutes.
