Repurposed Vintage Magazine Rack Ideas

You’re going to love these repurposed magazine rack ideas! If you know me, you know that I love shopping at flea markets. But lately, I have fallen for another fun and sometimes more convenient way to shop. Facebook Marketplace!

Pretty much every day, I glance at Facebook Marketplace. I love searching for treasures—items to refresh, repurpose, or give new life to. These items can vary anywhere from furniture to lamps to basically anything that catches my eye.

The only requirement is that these items are cheap and unique. Remember my green dresser and white dresser? Both Marketplace finds! So when I came across this vintage bamboo magazine rack, and it fit my criteria, I knew I could come up with a few different ways to repurpose it!

When I first spotted this old magazine rack, I wasn’t so sure it was a necessity. I loved the bamboo and vintage vibe it had but wasn’t in love with the $20 they were asking. So I offered $10 and decided if they took it that, it was meant to be.

Well, as you can see, my offer was accepted, and I had found myself another thrifty treasure!

Magazine Rack Love

I got this beauty home and immediately threw a bunch of my favorite magazines in it. It looked so pretty in front of my white dresser, but it was just so…normal.

Pretty, but normal. It was begging me to think outside of the box (or rack)!

Thinking Outside of the Box & Repurposing Ideas

I’ll be honest I hauled this little cutie all over my house and found several fun ideas and uses for it, but really only took pictures of a few of them. For a split second, I even thought about painting it. Instead, I just had fun coming up with some ways to use it and decorate with it around our home!

Unique & Creative Ways to Repurpose a Vintage Magazine Rack

  • store cutting boards in it
  • stuff it with faux flowers
  • use it to hold your garden tools
  • use it to hold knitting supplies
  • store file folders/ important papers in it
  • wine rack
  • line it and turn it into a planter
  • add it to your porch or entry to use as umbrella storage
  • turn it into a plate rack/display (my favorite is featured below)

    1. Thanks Cindy…I thought so too! It was hard to decide where to leave it because I liked it in so many different spots. I think I will live with it for a bit before I paint it. But it is tempting!
