Beautiful and Simple Framed Pressed Flowers

Have you ever struggled to find the perfect gift for a loved one?

I am so excited to share my idea that’s both unique and timeless: a custom framed pressed flower piece. Both my mom and I LOVE flowers so I thought this would be the perfect gift for her. This is a great idea for the flower lover in your life!

In this post, we’ll explore the meaning behind pressed flowers and guide you through the process of creating a beautiful and personal gift.

Discover how to choose the perfect flowers, find the right frame, create your piece, add personal touches, and care for it to last a lifetime.

The Meaning Behind Pressed Flowers

Pressed flowers have been used in art and crafts for for so long. Today, pressed flower pieces are often given as gifts to represent different meanings and sentiments. Choosing the right flowers for your piece is key to conveying your desired message.

When selecting flowers, I like to consider their symbolism.

For example, roses represent love and passion, while lavender represents devotion and serenity. Additionally, the colors of the flowers can also add meaning to your piece. Yellow flowers symbolize friendship, red flowers symbolize love, and pink flowers symbolize happiness.

You may also choose flowers based on their personal significance to the recipient. My mom loves hydrangeas, peonies, zinnias and roses.

Consider their favorite flowers or blooms that hold special memories. Including these flowers in your piece adds a personal touch and makes the gift even more meaningful.

Supplies Needed

Below I have listed the simple supplies needed for this sweet little DIY of framed pressed flowers. Then in the next section, we’ll go over how to choose the perfect flowers for your pressed flower piece.

Choosing the Perfect Flowers for Your Piece

When it comes to creating a pressed flower piece, selecting the right flowers is key. While any flower can be used for pressing, some are better suited than others. Blooms with thin petals, such as pansies or daisies, work well as they dry quickly and maintain their color.

I had saved some peony petals, hydrangeas and zinnias but found out that I didn’t press them correctly and they would not work. So I will make sure to correctly press them this coming year!

If you’re unsure which flowers to use, consider the occasion. For a birthday or anniversary gift, bright and cheerful blooms like sunflowers or daisies are a great choice. For a sympathy gift, delicate and soft flowers like baby’s breath or forget-me-nots are more appropriate.

Choosing the perfect flowers for your pressed flower piece is an important step in the process. In the next section, we’ll go over how to find the right frame to showcase your beautiful creation.,

Finding the Right Frame

Now that you have selected the perfect pressed flowers for your gift, it’s time to find the right frame to showcase them.

The frame you choose should complement the colors and textures of your flower arrangement while also fitting the occasion and personal style of the recipient. Consider the size and orientation of your piece, as well as the space where it will be displayed, to ensure the frame is the right fit.

For a classic and timeless look, a simple wooden frame in a neutral color such as white or natural wood can work well. If you are gifting your piece for a specific event, such as a wedding or graduation, a metallic frame in silver or gold can add a touch of sophistication.

For a more rustic or bohemian vibe, a distressed or ornately carved frame in a bold color can add character and interest.

For my frame I chose this antique gold, vintage style brass and floating photo frame , with a clasp closure. This allowed the flowers to float and be enclosed inside the glass.

In addition to the style of the frame, consider the type of glass or acrylic used to cover your piece. Anti-glare glass can reduce any unwanted reflections, while museum-quality UV-resistant glass can help preserve your creation for years to come.

Once you have found the perfect frame for your pressed flower creation, it’s time to start assembling it. In the next section, we’ll walk you through the process of creating your own pressed flower piece step-by-step.,

Creating Your Beautiful and Simple Framed Pressed Flowers

Once you have found the perfect frame for your pressed flower creation, the next step is to start assembling it.

  1. First, arrange your pressed flowers in a visually pleasing way on the glass. I used small tweezers to help with the delicate flowers. Play around with different layouts and color combinations until you find the perfect arrangement. Let your creativity bloom!
  2. When you are happy with the placement of your flowers, carefully glue them onto the glass using a small amount of glass glue like Loctite. Be sure to use a light touch and not to add too much glue, as this can cause your flowers to tear or bulge.
  3. Once your flowers are securely attached to the glass, close the frame. Make sure the glass or acrylic cover is clean and free from dust or debris before placing it over the top of your creation. Anti-glare or UV-resistant glass is a great option if you want to further preserve your piece.

In the next section, we will explore how to add personal touches to your pressed flower creation, making it truly unique and special.

Adding Personal Touches

Now that you’ve created a beautiful pressed flower piece, it’s time to add some personal touches to make it truly unique. You can incorporate personal items, such as a favorite quote or a handwritten note, into the design using calligraphy or printed text. This will give your pressed flowers a sentimental value and make it a touching gift for someone special.

Another way to add a personal touch is by using a frame that relates to the recipient’s interests or personality.

For example, if the recipient is an avid gardener, a frame with a botanical design would be perfect. If they have a minimalist style, a sleek and modern frame would be ideal. The options are endless, so get creative and choose a frame that will make your pressed flowers stand out even more.

Now that you’ve added your personal touches, it’s important to properly care for your creation so that it can be enjoyed for years to come.

Caring for Your Pressed Flower Piece

Now that you’ve put so much thought and care into creating a unique and personal pressed flower piece, it’s important to know how to properly care for it. By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your creation will remain beautiful and vibrant for years to come.

First, it’s important to keep your pressed flowers out of direct sunlight. While natural light can enhance the beauty of your creation, too much direct sunlight can cause the colors to fade over time. Instead, display your piece in a location that receives indirect natural light or in a well-lit room.

Second, avoid exposing your pressed flowers to moisture. This means keeping them in a dry environment and away from any sources of humidity. Moisture can cause the petals to wilt and potentially even mold, so it’s best to keep them in a sealed frame or glass case.

Finally, be gentle when handling your pressed flower piece. While it may be tempting to touch and admire it often, excessive handling can cause the delicate petals to crack or break apart. Instead, display it in a safe location and enjoy it from afar.

By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your pressed flower creation remains just as beautiful as the day you made it. Whether it’s given as a gift or kept as a personal treasure, a framed pressed flower piece is a unique and timeless way to capture the beauty of nature.,
