Our Blue and Green Christmas Home Tour

Now, let me extend a warm welcome into our home!

I’m Kelly, the voice and face behind The Tattered Pew. I’ve been blogging for nearly 7 years and recently made the exciting decision to transition from a 20-year teaching career to pursue blogging full time!

Photography by: Lumen Creative Co.

I reside in Colorado with my family, and you’ll often find me exploring local flea markets, decorating with my favorite colors blue and green or spending quality time with my mom. (For those of you who are new, she shares a monthly series here on the blog called “Tuesdays With Tracy!“)

She played a crucial role in helping me decorate our home this year, and I couldn’t have pulled it off without her!

Feel free to check out last year’s Christmas tour here, where she also lent her expertise to create a festive atmosphere! I used a lot more red last year and always enjoy switching it up!

Alright, let’s dive in!

Grab yourself a cozy beverage and prepare to immerse yourself in a plethora of Christmas decor and pictures. As always if you have any questions you can always leave those in the comment section at the very bottom of this post!

Using Blue and Green in Our Entry

I have a deep affection for everything Christmas! The fact that it revolves around Jesus is something I cherish, especially since I share my birthday month with him—just three days before Christmas.

I know I said this was our blue and green Christmas tour but I couldn’t’ leave out a few pops of red.

And what better area to embrace the red than in our entry. It is home to two of my favorite flea market finds.

  1. My tiny little pew my hubby found for me!
  2. The pieced together Turkish camel blanket that I use as a rug.

So when you walk in to our home I want you to feel all the cozy Christmas vibes and for me that starts with garland!

My goal is to always make the garland look real and my secret trick is to layer it!

blue and green Christmas entry garland

I used an inexpensive garland from Walmart as the base layer and attached it to our banister with some of these ties and then followed it up with my all time favorite garland. It’s the real touch Norfolk Pine garland. It is sold out in most places but I did find some left here and here!

Then for pops of red added sprigs of red berries. Subtle yet so festive and pretty!

Our Entry Dresser & Nook

Just around the corner is my favorite pine dresser that I love decorating seasonally!

I found this beauty on FB marketplace for a steal.

Here is where you will start to see some real pops of blue and green.

My Trader Joe’s boxwood wreath is strung up with some glorious velvet ribbon from Hobby Lobby. (I found it in the ribbon section by their fabric!)

I shared a full tutorial in my post on this beautiful boxwood Christmas wreath and tips for extending its life!

Most of this set up is from Antique Farmhouse , one of my favorite places to shop on-line. But the sweet little glass churches holding the votive candles are from Walmart!

The last spot in our entry is this little sitting nook located right by our front door.

This year I kept it simple with an old fuzzy green blanket from IKEA on my blue plaid chair and a mini tree. The table was a FB Marketplace find too!

Do you see that beautiful box the tree is in? I got it at an Estate sale my friend told me about and I love it! It was actually a trash can originally but the moment I saw it I knew it needed a Christmas tree in it!

Blues and Greens in Our Christmas Family Room

Now walk with me over in to our family room!

I love this space and we spend a ton of time here as a family.

For some fun Christmas greenery touches in here I added two Norfolk Pine garland pieces to a large grapevine wreath I had and hung it with suction cups to the window.

I love how it turned out and it was so easy to make with just some floral wire. I even added fairy lights to it and it looks so magical at night!

One of my favorite ways to add pops of color is always with books.

You will find them throughout our home and I switch them out often!

A few of the ones below are my favorites. The Santa Mouse book is my husband’s from his childhood. We have one for each of our kids too!

And of course I couldn’t resist a sweet coffee table vignette with a few more books. Not to worry, the candle is battery operated. I have it set on a timer and love that it pops on every night!

Our Blue and Green Christmas Tree and Mantel

Ok, and now for the fun part. As we venture further into our family room you will see our tree and mantel.

This is where my mom was an incredible help.

Full Family Room view of green and blue Christmas tour

Before I did any other Christmas decorating in the house I first started with the mantel. And it was a two person job!

Thank goodness for my mom because this garland can be SO tricky!

I have an entire post on how it all came together so stay tuned for that coming up on the blog soon. But just so you know I used my layering trick again and of course the Norfolk Pine real touch garland!

Our blue and green Christmas mantel

The woven trees on the left side of the mantel were a HomeGoods find this year. I saw them early in November and thought about them for a few weeks.

This usually never ends well when shopping at HomeGoods but luckily for me it did. They were still there two weeks later!

I found some similar ones here if you love them too!

Also, can we talk about how cool this gold ball garland is? I got it last year on sale after Christmas at a local shop called Cozy Cottage. But I did find it on-line here.

The green art above the mantel and the blue art above the green dresser were both DIYs.

I plan to write a tutorial for them because I get a lot of questions about them. Would you believe they are just downloaded prints placed on a tablecloth wrapped around the back of the frame and then framed?

So easy yet so beautiful!

Of course I chose my favorite colors, blue and green!

Up next is my tree! I have been So excited to show it to you!

Do you recognize the ribbon? It’s the same blue and green velvet I used on the boxwood wreath!

My mom and Aunt Pam helped me tie in groups of three and then we simply tied the groups around the branches. I love the romantic look and it was an easy way to add color to our flocked tree!

At first I had all of my mercury fglass ornaments on the tree and it was find but they barely showed up since our tree is flocked.

So I added some pinecone garland from Michael’s and these beautiful blue ornaments from JoAnn.

And wow did the tree instantly come to life!

The blue ornaments are actually plastic and shatter proof. Can you believe it?

Oh and did you notice? No tree topper necessary.

It looks even more magical all lit up at night. This year I used the OLLNY cluster lights and I swear I will never go back to real lights.

You can see them in action HERE! You can shop them here and use code XS20 for 20% off site-wide!

Take a peek under the tree! That is a vintage chenille bedspread that I used as the tree skirt! I love it’s texture.

Below on my favorite Boxwood green dresser I simply added some Norfolk Pine stems to a thrifted blue and white jar. The green velvet ribbon was the finishing touch.

And added a few more of those sweet glass church votive holders!

A Peek at our Blue Office

Our final stop on our tour is just a peek into my husband’s “moffice”. Or man office.

He needed one room in the house for himself and lucky for him it was beautiful and a place he loves to enjoy.

He is also sweet and let’s me add some decorative touches in here too! The walls and bookshelves are all painted Sea Serpent by Sherwin Williams which is the prettiest blue!

So I had to bring in a tabletop Christmas tree and place it in a large blue and white chinoiserie fish bowl of course.

And how beautiful are the wreaths hanging over the lights? I got those last year from Round Wreath, a small shop, and still love them!

Christmas in our office

Would you believe that I got these gorgeous leather chairs at a consignment shop. Sure did! They are from Pottery Barn and Mike loves them. The rug is older and from Pottery Barn and was given to me for free!
