Simple Fall Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Lately life has been literally crazy! Between teaching kindergarten virtually, being a mom & wife, having a puppy and you know, life…I have been craving simplicity, coziness and comfort. Luckily, my bedroom has been just that! A much needed place where I can retreat to relax and unwind.

Simple fall touches to our bedroom.

I recently worked with Wayfair to give our bedroom a coastal cottage makeover which included this amazing wallpaper, and ever since then I’ve actually been spending time in there and even making my bed! I know, crazy right?!

Fall looks in the bedroom start with the pillows!

And now that Fall has made an appearance here in Colorado I felt like it was time to add some simple decor to our bedroom to match the season.

Simple fall decorating ideas that anyone can do!

5 Simple Fall Decorating Ideas for Your Bedroom

Friends, I like to keep it simple. So here are my best tips for just that, Fall simplicity in the bedroom!

  • IDEA ONE: PILLOWS

When it comes to decorating any space for a new season or just a new feel, I always start with the pillows. Changing up your pillows is an easy and cost efficient way to add color and change to any space.

Here I simply changed out the front three pillows that were on our bed from summer, to this gorgeous blue floral pillow and these two brown ticking stripe pillows.

If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I just discovered an amazing pillow shop over on Etsy called Linen and Oak. The shop owner, Laura has been a delight and I adore her wonderful pillow covers. The brown ticking stripe pillows and the blue floral pillow are all from her shop. I even added a few others of hers to my family room. I highly recommend her pillows!

  • IDEA TWO: COZY BLANKETS & LAYERS

Fall is my favorite time to bring out all the cozy blankets and layers! I love sleeping cold and snuggling p with warm with blankets and a lovely down comforter. the linen duvet at the foot of our bed actually has two down comforters in it to make it extra fluffy!

I draped this gorgeous large knit gray blanket, from Target, over our chair. It just adds all the Fall feels!

A cozy Fall corner in our master bedroom.

And I even added this multi colored blue UGG blanket on the bench under our gallery wall. It was formally in our family room but fit with all the blue in our master. So I hauled it up! The extra texture adds instant warmth to this area! Of course there are a few more pillows too. 🙂 Don’t be afraid to use pillows and blankets from other areas of your home when decorating a new space.

Adding wheat stems to a fun wall accent is a great way to welcome Fall to your bedroom.

  • IDEA THREE: CANDLES & VOTIVES

If you know me you know I love candles! I recently found this amazing candle from NEST New York and had it downstairs but decided it needed to be in our room. Also, these mercury glass votives are so cozy and will transition into my Christmas decor perfectly. Adding cozy touches is easily done with candles!

Grouping candles together adds extra ambiance and makes smaller candles pop in larger spaces.

  • IDEA FOUR: DRIED FLORALS

When I think of Fall decor I think of dried flowers and wheat stems. Adding these elements to your fall decor is a simple way to add texture without going overboard. They are often free or inexpensive if you have them in your yard or outdoor spaces. (Check out the “weeds/dried florals” I collected from the side of the road that I shared in our family room on top of my favorite green dresser!)

In our bedroom I  added some wheat stems to the market tote on my gallery wall and some of my favorite dried hydrangeas to a vase on our dresser.

I tried to be cool and add afire place on our tv…but it was hard to photograph. Maybe next time I will try adding a pretty picture of pumpkins or aspen trees with their Fall leaves. Or maybe I will just leave it off.

  • IDEA 5:SMALL SEASONAL ACCENTS

Your bedroom tends to be a smaller space, so my suggestion is to keep it light when it comes to adding fall decor to your bedroom. Try adding a sign or maybe one or two pumpkins. I added a few of my DIY raffia pumpinks and moss and called it good. Less is more.

Less decor also makes for easier clean up when it comes time to decorate for the next season!
